Licensing & Test ReadinessStandalone practice
At 7:30 p.m., Mia, age 15, wants to drive with her beginner's permit. Which person may ride with her as her supervising driver?
Correct answer: Her neighbor, age 45, licensed for 25 years, in the front passenger seat
Why
The supervising driver sits beside the new driver to see the road, give help at once and take control if necessary. From midnight to 6 a.m., the rule is stricter: a person on the list in S.C. Code 56-1-100(A), such as a parent or guardian, must supervise. For a driver age 15 or 16, only practice with a person on that list counts toward the 40 practice hours.
