Each teen below has finished driver education, logged 40 hours of practice (10 at night), meets the school attendance rule and will pass the vision and skills tests. Which teen may get a South Carolina conditional license?

Correct answer: Age 15 years 9 months, with a permit held for 7 months

Why

South Carolina's graduated license program is for drivers age 15 to 17 and removes limits on night and unsupervised driving over time. With a conditional or special restricted license, you may drive alone only between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., or until 8 p.m. in daylight saving time. You may not carry more than two passengers under 21 unless a licensed adult age 21 or older is with you, except family members or students to and from school.
