At an intersection, two lanes are marked for left turns. You start your turn from the inner (left-most) turn lane. In which lane of the new road should you finish the turn?
A and B face north in two marked left-turn lanes. Blue car A is in the inner left-most lane, and silver car B is in the outer lane. Westbound receiving lanes are visible. No turning guide or selected route connects the approach to a receiving lane.
Correct answer: In the matching inner lane, because you stay in your lane through the whole turn.
Why
Pavement arrows and signs show which lanes may turn, so choose your lane early. Watch the vehicle that turns beside you, because a large vehicle may drift across the lane line. After you complete the turn, check your mirrors and blind spots before you change lanes.
