Passing target: 80% (24/30)
On a two-way street with one lane in each direction, you plan to turn left at the next intersection. Where in your lane should you be before you turn?
A heads east toward an intersection on a road with one lane in each direction. It plans to turn left, and the double yellow center line separates the opposing lane.
Correct answer: In the left part of your lane, just to the right of the center line.
Why
Your position tells other drivers what you plan to do before your signal does. From the left part of your lane, yield to oncoming traffic, then turn into the left-most lane that is open to your direction on the new street. While you wait to turn, keep your wheels pointed straight ahead, so that a hit from behind does not push you into oncoming traffic.
