Passing target: 80% (24/30)
You drive out of a store parking lot. The exit driveway crosses a sidewalk before it meets the street. A jogger is coming along the sidewalk, and a car is coming on the street. Who must you yield to?
Blue car A faces out of the store parking-lot driveway, more than two car lengths before the sidewalk. Jogger C approaches along the sidewalk, and silver car B approaches on the street. The question shows no stopping bar or selected movement.
Correct answer: The jogger and the car: stop before the sidewalk, then let the car pass before you enter.
Why
A driveway exit has two conflict points: the sidewalk, where people on foot, bicyclists and children can appear quickly, and the street, where traffic moves at speed. Stop before the sidewalk and look both ways along it, then move up and look both ways along the street. Parked cars and hedges often block the view, so move forward slowly until you can see.
