Your light is steady red, and no sign prohibits a right turn on red. No pedestrians or vehicles are near. What must you do before you turn right?
A approaches a marked stop line and crosswalk at a steady red signal. The blue car is more than two car lengths before the line. The card states that A intends a right turn and no prohibiting sign or road user is nearby. No stopping point or selected turn path is demonstrated.
Correct answer: Stop fully at the stop line or, with no line, before the crosswalk; then turn when clear.
Why
The red light still means stop; the right-turn exception only lets you go after the stop. Look left for traffic that has a green light, and look right and ahead for pedestrians and bicyclists. Be ready to yield to a pedestrian who steps into the crosswalk. A NO TURN ON RED sign removes the exception, so then you wait for the green light.
