You see a round yellow sign with a black X and the letters RR beside the road. What does it tell you, and what should you do?

Correct answer: A railroad crossing is ahead: slow down, look and listen for a train, and be ready to stop.
Why
The round sign gives you early warning, so you have time to slow down before you reach the tracks. A train cannot stop quickly or swerve to miss a car, so the driver must always be the one who waits. If your vehicle ever gets stuck on the tracks, call the emergency number on the blue sign at the crossing and give the crossing information.
