You drive on a two-lane street with one lane in each direction. You will turn left onto a street that has two lanes in each direction. Where should your turn start and end?
Blue car A approaches on a street with one lane in each direction. The crossing street has two lanes in each direction; A is centered in its approach lane with no turn path marked.
Correct answer: Start from the left part of your lane near the center line, and end in the left lane of your new direction.
Why
Plan a left turn early: signal, move to the left part of your lane, and yield to oncoming traffic. Turn so that you arrive in the lane nearest the center line for your new direction. After the turn, you may change lanes when you have signaled and it is safe.
