Turns, Lanes, Passing & MergingStandalone practice
On a two-lane highway with a broken center line, you want to pass a slow pickup. A side road meets the highway about 80 feet ahead. What should you do?
Blue A follows silver pickup B on a two-lane road with a broken yellow center line. A side road is marked 80 feet ahead of A’s front.
Correct answer: Stay behind; you may not drive left of center within 100 feet of an intersection.
Why
Vehicles can enter or cross the road at intersections, and the vehicle that you pass can block your view of them. A driver who turns onto the highway will not expect you in that lane. The same law applies near a bridge, viaduct or tunnel when your view is blocked.
