You park facing uphill on a rural road that has no curb. Which way should you turn your front wheels?
Blue A is parked facing uphill beside a rural road with a gravel shoulder and no curb. A side-profile line shows the uphill direction. The card explicitly says the front wheels have not been set; no wheel-angle detail is shown.
Correct answer: Sharply to the right, toward the edge of the road
Why
SDCL 32-30-5 requires a driver who parks on a grade to set the brake and turn the front wheels to the curb or side of the road. Only when you face uphill next to a curb do you turn the wheels to the left. Always set the parking brake and leave the car in park, or in gear with a manual transmission.
