Chris drinks two 12-ounce bottles of beer. Lee, who weighs the same, drinks two 1-ounce shots of whiskey in the same time. Who has had more alcohol?
Chris has two 12-ounce beer bottles; Lee has two 1-ounce whiskey shots. The card states equal body weight and drinking time. No alcohol equivalence is shown.
Correct answer: Neither, because a beer and a shot hold about equal alcohol.
Why
Each drink raises your BAC, no matter which kind of alcoholic drink it is. The number of drinks, how fast you drink them, your body weight and the food in your stomach decide how impaired you become. A switch from liquor to beer does not make it safe to drive.
