Traffic Signals & Road MarkingsStandalone practice
You come to an intersection where the traffic light flashes red in your direction. There are no other signs. What must you do?
A approaches a flashing red signal. One cross-street car B is visible; no other signs are shown.
Correct answer: Stop completely, yield to cross traffic and pedestrians, then go when it is safe.
Why
Because a flashing red light is a STOP sign, the stop line, crosswalk and right-of-way rules for STOP signs apply. A flashing yellow light means slow down and go with caution. Do not confuse either one with a dark signal, which you treat as an all-way stop.
