Your light turns green, and you start a right turn. A pedestrian with the WALK signal is crossing the street that you turn into, in the crosswalk. What should you do?
A faces north toward a right turn on green. Pedestrian B is crossing the receiving street with the WALK signal.
Correct answer: Wait until the pedestrian has crossed, then complete the turn.
Why
A green light gives permission to go, but you must still yield to pedestrians and vehicles that are lawfully in the intersection or crosswalk when the light changes. A turning driver crosses the path of people who walk with the signal, so look for them before you start the turn. After the pedestrian has crossed, finish the turn in the lane nearest the curb.
