Warning, Construction & Information SignsStandalone practice
You drive on a rural road. You see a round yellow sign with a black X and the letters RR. What does it tell you?

Correct answer: A railroad crossing is ahead; slow down and be ready to stop.
Why
At a crossing with no lights or gates, only you can decide to stop for a train. Never try to beat a train: drivers usually misjudge its speed, and a train at 55 mph can need a full mile to stop. At the crossing, a white X-shaped crossbuck marks the tracks, and a sign under it shows the number of tracks.
