Warning, Construction & Information SignsStandalone practice
You drive at 45 mph on a country road. A yellow diamond sign shows a small red STOP sign symbol. You cannot see an intersection yet. What should you do?

Correct answer: Begin to slow down now, because a STOP sign is ahead.
Why
These advance signs are used where you cannot yet see the control ahead. A similar sign with a traffic-light symbol warns of a traffic signal ahead, and one with a YIELD symbol warns of a YIELD sign ahead. Early, smooth braking also warns the drivers behind you that you will stop.
