Maria got her learner license on the day she turned 15. Eight months later, she is still 15 and has finished the full driver education course. When can she first get a provisional license?
Correct answer: At age 16, after she passes the driving exam and meets the other requirements
Why
The graduated license has two phases. In Phase One, a driver under 18 must hold a learner or hardship license for at least six months. Phase Two, the provisional license, starts no earlier than age 16 and keeps the passenger and midnight-to-5 a.m. limits until the 18th birthday. Both conditions must be met, so the six months alone are not enough.
