Intersections & Right-of-WayStandalone practice
You drive on a two-lane street and want to turn left into a store driveway in the middle of the block. An oncoming car is close. What should you do?
Blue A travels east on a two-lane road toward a driveway on its left marked Store. Silver B approaches west in the opposing lane, close to the driveway.
Correct answer: Wait for the oncoming car to pass, then turn when there is a safe gap.
Why
A left turn crosses the path of oncoming traffic, so the turning driver must wait. Texas law applies this duty at intersections and also at alleys, private roads and driveways. Before you cross the sidewalk into the driveway, also look for pedestrians and stop for them.
