Passing target: 70% (28/40)
You pass a slow car on a two-lane highway. An oncoming truck is still some distance ahead. When should you move back into the right lane?
On a two-lane highway, westbound A is passing westbound B in the opposing lane while eastbound truck C approaches from the left. A separate panel enlarges the same A/B positions, labeled as a position detail. No return route, mirror cue or distance threshold is shown.
Correct answer: When you can see the passed car in your inside rearview mirror, before the truck is within 200 feet.
Why
A pass has two limits: space behind you from the car that you passed, and space ahead from oncoming traffic. Before you start a pass, make sure that you have time for both. Signal right before you move back, and turn the signal off after the lane change.
