Parking, Reversing & Roadside StopsStandalone practice
You stop on a flat street in front of a friend's house. You want to walk to the door for two minutes and leave the engine running, so that the air conditioning stays on. Is that allowed in Texas?
Correct answer: No. Before you leave, you must stop the engine, take the key and set the parking brake.
Why
These steps keep the car from rolling away and make it harder for another person to drive it off. There is one exception: when a remote starter starts the engine without the key in the ignition, and the car cannot be driven until the key is in the ignition or in the car, the engine and key steps do not apply.
