Passing target: 70% (28/40)
You drive in the right lane of a one-way road with three lanes. You signal and start to move into the middle lane. At the same time, a driver in the left lane starts to move into the same middle lane. Who must yield?
Three lanes carry traffic to the right. Blue A in the right lane and silver B in the left lane both begin moving toward the middle lane, shown by equal-style dashed intention lines. A is slightly farther ahead. No priority is assigned.
Correct answer: You must yield, because you enter the lane from the right
Why
When two drivers move toward the same lane from opposite sides, neither may see the other in time, because each one watches the lane ahead. Texas gives the right-of-way to the driver who comes from the left. Before any lane change, check your mirror and blind spot for a car that may move into that lane from two lanes over.
