Warning, Construction & Information Signs
You are driving on a main road and see this sign. What should you be ready for?

- AYour own lane ends ahead, and you must move into the lane on your left.
- BA side road crosses ahead, and its traffic must stop for you.
- CThe road splits ahead, and the right lane turns off as an exit.
- DVehicles from another road may move into your lane from the right.
Show the answer and the explanationHide the answer
Correct answer: D. Vehicles from another road may move into your lane from the right.
Why
The Merge sign warns that another road joins yours ahead, and its traffic will move into your lane from the side the curved line shows. Watch for entering vehicles, adjust your speed, and leave space so they can merge smoothly. Do not confuse it with the Lane Ends sign, which warns that your own lane ends and you must move over.
Why the other answers are not correct
- A. Wrong: a lane that ends is shown by the Lane Ends sign; the Merge sign warns that another road joins yours.
- B. Wrong: this sign shows a road that joins yours, not a road that crosses it, and it says nothing about traffic that must stop.
- C. Wrong: the curved line shows a second road that comes in to join yours, not a lane that leaves it.
