Correct answer: A. People on foot may cross or use the road ahead.
Why
This yellow diamond with a walking person is the Pedestrian Crossing sign. It warns that people on foot may enter, cross or share the road ahead. Slow down, look to both sides, and be ready to yield or stop for them. A down-pointing arrow plaque below it marks the crossing point itself. The sign can also have a fluorescent yellow-green background. The School sign is different: it is five-sided and shows two children.
Why the other answers are not correct
- B. A warning sign does not close a lane; it tells drivers to watch for people on foot who share the road.
- C. A school is shown by the five-sided School sign with two children, not by this diamond.
- D. Trail and recreation signs are brown guide signs; this yellow diamond warns of pedestrians on the road.
