  2. BThe speed limit is 45, starting right at this yellow sign.

Show the answer and the explanation

Correct answer: A. The limit drops to 45 at a Speed Limit sign ahead.

Why

This yellow warning sign tells you that the speed limit drops to 45 ahead. The new limit starts at the white SPEED LIMIT sign farther along the road. Start to slow down now, so that you reach that sign at or below the new limit without hard braking. A white SPEED LIMIT 45 sign is different: it is the limit itself, and it applies from where it stands.

Why the other answers are not correct

  • B. Wrong: the yellow sign gives advance notice; the new limit applies from the Speed Limit sign at the start of the zone.
  • C. Wrong: an advised curve speed is shown on a yellow plaque below a curve sign, not with the words SPEED LIMIT.
  • D. Wrong: a minimum speed is shown on a white regulatory sign with the word MINIMUM.
