Show the answer and the explanation

Correct answer: B. The pavement gets narrower, with less room for oncoming traffic.

Why

This yellow diamond warns that the pavement ahead gets narrower, often so narrow that two vehicles from opposite directions cannot pass there at normal speed. Slow down, keep to the right in your lane, and watch for oncoming traffic, mostly wide vehicles. Do not confuse it with the Lane Ends sign, which warns that one of the lanes in your direction ends and you must merge.

Why the other answers are not correct

  • A. Lane Ends and Lanes Merge signs warn of that; this sign warns that the pavement of a two-way road gets narrower.
  • C. The NO SHOULDER sign warns of a missing shoulder; this sign warns that the road itself gets narrower.
  • D. A yellow diamond warns of a hazard; it does not ban any vehicle.
