Correct answer: C. The pavement ahead can be slippery when wet.
Why
This is the Slippery When Wet sign. It warns that the pavement ahead can be unexpectedly slippery, mostly when it is wet. Slow down before you reach it, keep a longer following distance, and steer, brake and speed up gently. A plaque below it, such as ICE or STEEL DECK, can give the cause. The Winding Road sign is different: it shows one black arrow that bends several times, not a car with skid marks.
Why the other answers are not correct
- A. A winding road is shown by one black arrow that bends several times, not by a car with skid marks.
- B. A rough surface has its own ROUGH ROAD word sign; the wavy lines on this sign are tire skid marks.
- D. A steep grade has its own Hill sign with a truck on a slope; this sign shows a car with skid marks.
