Show the answer and the explanationHide the answer
Correct answer: D. A series of three or more curves close together.
Why
This is the Winding Road sign. It warns that the road ahead has three or more curves close together. Slow down before the first curve and keep a safe speed until the curves end, because you may not see far ahead. A plaque such as NEXT XX MILES can show how far the curves go on. The Reverse Curve sign looks similar, but its arrow bends only twice and warns of two curves.
Why the other answers are not correct
- A. One sharp turn is shown by the Turn sign, an arrow with one square bend.
- B. Two curves in opposite directions are shown by the Reverse Curve sign, an arrow with two bends.
- C. Hills and dips have their own signs; this winding arrow shows the road bending to the left and right.
