Passing target: 80% (40/50)
A power outage has turned off every traffic light at a busy intersection, and no police officer directs traffic. You are on the main road, and the cross street is smaller. What must you do?
Blue A and silver C approach a broad main-road intersection, while silver D approaches from the opposite direction. The cross street is smaller. All four visible traffic signal heads are dark.
Correct answer: Stop before you enter, then go when it is your turn and the way is clear
Why
When the signals at an intersection are dark, Utah law requires each driver to stop before entering. After the stop, yield to a vehicle on your right that arrives at about the same time, and to any vehicle or pedestrian already in the intersection. The directions of a police officer take priority over these rules. Expect other drivers to make mistakes at a dark signal, and do not go until you are sure that they will let you through.
