Traffic Signals & Road MarkingsStandalone practice
You wait to turn left, and this arrow flashes for your lane. An oncoming car is close, and a pedestrian is in the crosswalk of the street you will turn onto. What should you do?

Correct answer: Yield to the oncoming car and the pedestrian, then turn when safe
Why
A driver who turns left can see a green arrow, which protects the turn, or a solid green light or a flashing yellow arrow, which only permit it. On a permitted turn you must judge the gaps in oncoming traffic yourself, and many serious crashes happen when drivers misjudge a gap. Also check the crosswalk that you turn across, because pedestrians there may have a walk signal at the same time.
