Licensing & Test ReadinessStandalone practice
You rent a moving truck to move your family's furniture. The truck has a gross vehicle weight rating of 16,000 pounds, seats three people and carries no hazardous materials. Which license do you need to drive it?
Correct answer: Your regular Class D license, because the truck is under 26,001 pounds
Why
The Class D license lets you drive personal vehicles up to 26,000 pounds. A rented truck still needs more distance to stop than a car, has larger blind spots, and can hit low bridges, trees or drive-through canopies. Drivers under 21 receive a provisional Class D license.
