Regulatory, Lane & Parking SignsStandalone practice
You stop at this sign. A small plaque below it shows the number 2. A freight train passes and clears the road. The crossing has no lights and no gates. What should you do before you cross?

Correct answer: Look and listen again for a second train on the other track before you cross
Why
Crossbuck signs are at all public railroad crossings, and they mean that you must yield to trains. Not every crossing with more than one track has a number plaque, so always look for more tracks. Trains can move in either direction at any time, and an approaching train is always closer and faster than you think.
