Your turn signal lights stop working, and you need to turn right at the next corner. How do you give the signal with your arm?
A travels along a road; the card states that its turn signal lamps have failed and that it needs a right turn. No arm position is visible.
Correct answer: Hold your left arm out of the window with the forearm bent upward.
Why
West Virginia law says hand-and-arm signals are given from the left side of the vehicle: arm straight out for a left turn, arm bent upward for a right turn, and arm bent downward to slow down or stop. Use arm signals when your signal lights fail or cannot be seen, and give the signal at least 100 feet before the turn. Bicyclists may use the same signals, so know what they mean.
