Passing target: 80% (24/30)
You are turning right at a quiet residential intersection with no traffic signals and no painted crosswalk lines. A pedestrian has stepped off the corner and is crossing the street that you are turning into. What should you do?
A approaches a planned right turn at an uncontrolled corner. B walks across the receiving street between the sidewalk corners, with no painted crosswalk.
Correct answer: Yield and stop if needed, because the corner has a crosswalk even without paint.
Why
At every intersection, the lines of the sidewalks continue across the street as a crosswalk, even when no lines are painted. Where no signal controls the intersection, a driver must yield to a pedestrian in the crosswalk on the driver's half of the road, or one who is close enough on the other half to be in danger. Turning drivers often watch only for other cars, so check the crosswalk before you start the turn.
