Intersections & Right-of-WayStandalone practice
You stop at a red light and want to turn right. A sign at the intersection reads NO TURN ON RED and shows no days or times. It is late at night, and no cars or pedestrians are in sight. May you turn right on this red light?

Correct answer: No, wait until the light turns green, and then turn right after you yield.
Why
In West Virginia, you may turn right on a red light after a full stop and after you yield to pedestrians and traffic, unless a sign prohibits the turn. The same rule lets you turn left on red from a one-way street onto another one-way street. Local authorities post NO TURN ON RED signs at intersections where they have found the turn unsafe, so obey the sign even when the intersection looks empty.
