Passing target: 80% (52/65)
On a freeway, you drive past your exit. The exit ramp is now about 200 feet behind you, and the shoulder is wide and empty. What should you do?
A has passed a freeway exit, which branches away behind the car. A scaled overview shows the given 200-foot gap and an enlarged detail identifies the same car; no recovery route is drawn.
Correct answer: Go on to the next exit, leave the freeway there, and come back to the exit that you missed.
Why
Freeway traffic moves fast and does not expect a car that backs up, stops or turns around. Wisconsin law allows backing only when you can do it with reasonable safety, and on a freeway you cannot. It also allows you to enter or leave a freeway only at the openings made for that purpose. Plan your exit early, and if you miss it, take the next exit.
