School Zones, Railways & Work AreasStandalone practice
You drive past a school at the time when children walk to school. Several children are on the sidewalk next to the school. No sign posts a different speed limit for this area. What is your maximum speed?
Correct answer: 15 mph, because children are present near the school.
Why
Children can run into the street with no warning, and at a low speed you can stop in a much shorter distance. Wisconsin sets 15 mph when you pass a school while children go to or from school or play near it, and at a marked school crossing when a child or a crossing guard is present. A sign can show a different limit. Drive even slower if you cannot see well.
