Weather, Visibility & EmergenciesStandalone practice
Your car has anti-lock brakes (ABS). Traffic ahead stops suddenly, and you must stop as fast as possible. How should you brake?
Correct answer: Press the pedal hard, hold it down, and steer around danger.
Why
In an emergency, ABS pumps the brakes for you, much faster than you can. Press the pedal down hard, hold it, and steer out of danger. The Wyoming manual warns that pumping the pedal or releasing steady pressure disengages the ABS. Conventional brakes need a different method, so know which type your vehicle has.
