Passing target: 80% (24/30)
On a four-lane highway, a motorcycle rides near the left side of a wide lane ahead of you. There seems to be room for your car beside it in the same lane. What should you do?
A follows motorcycle B, which is near the left side of its wide lane. The adjacent same-direction lane is clear.
Correct answer: Pass only by moving fully into the next lane, as you would for a car.
Why
Wyoming law gives every motorcycle the full use of a lane, and no driver may take that space away. A skilled rider often changes position in the lane to see, to be seen, and to avoid objects on the road, so a car beside it in the same lane boxes both of you in. Only motorcycles may share a lane, and only two abreast with the consent of both riders.
