P0152: O2 Sensor Circuit High Voltage (Bank 2, Sensor 1)

An oxygen sensor or its heater circuit isn't reporting correctly. Upstream sensors (sensor 1) feed real-time fuel-trim corrections; downstream sensors (sensor 2) check catalyst efficiency. Bad O2 sensors hurt fuel economy and can trigger false catalyst codes.

Can I keep driving?
Generally safe to keep driving — fix when convenient.
DIY difficulty
moderate
DIY possible with a scan tool and intermediate skills.
Typical cost (Canada)
$200 – $500 CAD
Parts + labor; varies by shop & vehicle.
Common causes

What usually triggers P0152?

  1. 1Worn-out oxygen sensor (typical lifespan 100–200,000 km)
  2. 2Damaged sensor wiring or connector
  3. 3Open heater element inside the sensor
  4. 4Exhaust leak near the sensor causing false readings
  5. 5Contaminated sensor (oil, coolant, or silicone exposure)

Causes are listed roughly in order of how often they're seen on Canadian independent-shop tickets. Always confirm with a scan-tool freeze-frame and a circuit/sensor check before replacing parts.
