A tire suddenly blows out at highway speed. What should the driver do?
Correct answer: Grip the wheel, ease off the gas, then slow and pull over.
Why
Grip the wheel firmly and ease off the accelerator. Keep the vehicle controlled and let it slow greatly before moving to the shoulder. The Georgia handbook allows light braking if necessary and safe; do not slam on the brakes. If already off the pavement, do not jerk the wheel back onto it.
