Your car’s rear wheels slide to the right on a slippery road. What should you do first to regain control?
A blue sedan is yawed slightly toward the upper right on a wet two-way road, with its rear displaced toward the near side.
Correct answer: Ease off the pedal and steer gently right, then straighten.
Why
Ease off the accelerator or brake and steer gently to the right, in the direction the rear is sliding, to bring the vehicle back into line. As traction returns, straighten the steering. Avoid hard braking, sudden acceleration, or a large steering correction.
