Passing target: 80% (20/25)
An emergency vehicle approaches from behind using lights and a siren. What should a driver do?
On an ordinary two-way road, a white-and-blue box ambulance approaches behind blue car A with red warning lights flashing and its siren sounding. The roadway edge to A’s right is clear.
Correct answer: Pull to the right edge, clear of intersections, and stop.
Why
Yield to the approaching authorized emergency vehicle, move parallel and as close as possible to the right edge or curb clear of the intersection, and stop until it has passed. Follow a police officer’s different directions if given. Clear the path predictably rather than stopping inside the intersection or moving into opposing traffic.
