A striped bicycle lane runs along the right side of the street. You want to turn right into a driveway, and a bicyclist is coming in that lane. What should you do?
A approaches a driveway while a bicyclist comes along the striped bicycle lane on the right.
Correct answer: Yield to the bicyclist, then cross the bicycle lane to make your turn
Why
A bicycle lane is part of the roadway set aside by striping for bicyclists. Drivers may cross it to turn or to enter or leave the road, but a rider in the lane has priority and is easy to overlook. Check your mirror and blind spot for bicyclists before you move toward the curb.
