Passing target: 80% (20/25)
On a street with two lanes going your way, the car in the next lane stops just before a crosswalk. You cannot see why. What should you do?
A approaches a crosswalk in the left of two same-direction lanes. B has stopped in the right lane just before the crossing; the reason is not visible.
Correct answer: Slow and prepare to stop; a pedestrian you cannot see may be crossing in front of it
Why
A stopped vehicle next to you at a crosswalk is a strong clue that someone is crossing, and that person stays hidden until the last moment. Stop and wait until you can see that the crosswalk is clear. Drivers must yield to pedestrians in marked or unmarked crosswalks, whether or not a signal is present.
