Passing target: 80% (20/25)
You park facing downhill on a street with a curb on your right. Which way should you turn the front wheels?
A is parked facing downhill with a curb on its right. A slope profile identifies the downhill direction.
Correct answer: Sharply to the right, toward the curb or road edge
Why
On any slope, set the parking brake, leave the car in park (or in gear with a manual transmission), and turn the front wheels so that a rolling car goes away from traffic. Facing downhill, that always means toward the curb or road edge, whether or not there is a curb. Missouri examiners check the wheel direction and the parking brake in the hill-parking part of the driving test.
