Parking, Reversing & Roadside StopsStandalone practice
You find a gap at the curb, but your car would block a fire hydrant and stick out into the crosswalk at the corner. You need only five minutes. What should you do?
Correct answer: Drive on and find a space that leaves the hydrant and the crosswalk clear
Why
Some no-parking places are marked with signs or yellow curbs, but others are never allowed: inside an intersection, on a sidewalk or crosswalk, blocking a driveway entrance, on a bridge, and in front of a fire hydrant. These rules keep pedestrians visible, keep driveways usable, and let fire crews reach water without delay. Cities may add more limits with signs, meters and curb colors.
