You come to a complete stop at a four-way stop. A moment later, a car stops at the street on your right. Neither of you has entered the intersection yet. Who should go first?
A and B have stopped on perpendicular streets at a four-way stop. A stopped first, just before B arrived from A’s right.
Correct answer: You, because you stopped first; still check that the way is clear before you go.
Why
At a four-way stop every driver must stop fully and then use ordinary care; no street has priority. Under Nebraska law, after you stop, you must also yield to any vehicle that has already entered the intersection. Never insist on going first: if the other driver starts to move, let that driver go.
