You and another driver stop at a four-way stop at the same moment. The other car is on the street to your right, and both of you want to go straight. What should you do?
A and B have stopped at the same time at a four-way stop. B is on the approach to A’s right; both intend to go straight.
Correct answer: Let the driver on your right go first, and then go when the way is clear.
Why
The yield-to-the-right rule settles ties at four-way stops and at intersections without signs or signals. It works only when drivers use it, so watch the other driver and be ready to wait if that driver goes out of turn. If the other driver waves you on, still check that the intersection is clear before you go.
