Passing target: 80% (20/25)
You reach a quiet residential intersection with sidewalks but no signs, signals or painted crosswalk lines. A pedestrian has stepped off the corner curb and is walking across the street in front of you. What must you do?
A approaches a residential intersection with sidewalks and no crosswalk paint or signal. B has stepped from the near corner into A’s half of the street.
Correct answer: Slow down or stop, and let the pedestrian finish crossing your half of the street.
Why
Many residential corners have no painted lines, but the law treats them as crosswalks, also at T-intersections. You must also yield when a pedestrian on the other half of the street comes so close to your lane that the person would be in danger. Wait until the pedestrian has reached the lanes for the other direction before you go on.
