Parking, Reversing & Roadside StopsStandalone practice
You are about to back your car out of a driveway at home. Which method does the New Mexico manual advise?
Correct answer: Check behind the car first, then turn and look through the rear window as you back slowly.
Why
Backing is risky because you cannot see well behind a vehicle, and a young child can be right behind it. Do as little backing as you can; in a parking lot, pick a space that lets you drive forward when you leave. When you must back up, a person outside the vehicle can help guide you.
