Traffic Signals & Road MarkingsStandalone practice
You drive toward a marked crosswalk that has no traffic signal. A person is walking across the road in the crosswalk. What must you do?
A approaches an unsignalized marked crosswalk where B is already walking across the roadway.
Correct answer: Stop and wait until the person has crossed and it is safe to go
Why
Crosswalks mark where people on foot may cross, and some crosswalks at intersections have no painted lines at all. New Mexico law also says that when a vehicle has stopped at a crosswalk to let someone cross, a driver coming from behind must not pass that stopped vehicle. The stopped vehicle can hide a person who is crossing in front of it.
